Even though it has been 9 months the area is still somewhat sensitive so it is possible. Also, check with the doctor about physical therapy. Talk to his doctor, he may put him on a short run of steroids and or order physical therapy. If this doesn't help and the pain is very severe, he may need to see a pain specialist.
