Use of over the door traction device will help alleviate some the unbearable times, as well as wearing a cervical collar whenever you can. Applying ice to the back of my neck always helped when the pain would cause me unbearable migraines...but eventually after years of struggling to alleviate pain...I finally had no choice when neurological symptoms began taking over...In 2000 I took the 50/50 surgical risk & had a cervical fusion done...taking bone from my hip and titanium plates & screws placed strategically have changed my life~ I suggest you do alot of research online before ever considering ANY surgery...They now have the DRX machine that can offer relief & repair of ruptured/herniated discs...this is not an option for those like me who have exhausted all avenues of pain management & then surgery. Visit www.webmd.com and learn all you can, its a great user friendly site... Do searches online Texas has an awesome back institute that I understand they will now consider doing the cervical repairs as well...the world is full of technology today...do your homework! Take care~ I wish you well!
