Runners, what would cause a slight pain in the upper thigh right by the groin after running that lasts a day?

I am training for a marathon and I am doing so on an indoor track and also I have not bought running shoes yet but am running in basketball shoes. When I ran before I never had this problem but it might be bc I am running for longer distances now.

Pain in the groin is sometimes related to a problem in the hip. My guess is that (1) your shoes are not appropriate for running (especially around a track, which means you’re always running the same direction), and that (2) you are compensating for a problem with your stride — perhaps even caused by your running shoes.

If you’re going to run a marathon, you want to make sure you get proper shoes — ones that fit, will provide 26.2 miles of the correct support, and suit your running gait. You should go to a store that specializes in running and have your gait analyzed before looking at any shoes.

the cause of that is… your muscle exceeds the cellular respiration and loses potassium that also looses with water also. that could lead to muscle cramps and some other muscle pains
