Sciatic nerve pain, lump on lower back?

Ok, I have a dr’s appointment next week to get this checked out, but I am worried now so I want to ask if anyone has an suggestions on what this might be…

I have been having sciatica for a while now, and I thought it was because I am on my feet all the time, as I work 2 jobs that require me to stand all day. I have pain in my lower back that sometimes shoots down my left leg, and my left leg goes numb a lot, so I am figuring it’s my sciatic nerve. I was thinking maybe I slipped a disc in my back or something, but the other day I was having pain on my left side just above my hip bone so I was rubbing it and felt a lump there, that is tender. It’s kind of squishy, and I can’t see it looking in the mirror, I can only feel it. It is still tender whenever I rub it. I’m wondering if anyone knows if it is possible that I injured a muscle and the swelling is pressing on the sciatic nerve? That lump seems to be the source of the pain.

I have had a cyst before so I know it’s not that, and a tumor should be hard right? I know a lipoma is soft but apparently they are supposed to move around?? I don’t know. Like I said, I’m getting it checked out soon, but I just wondered if anyone has ever had something similar to this, a mass or something compressing on a nerve causing pain?

get a massage, see a chiropractor, do yoga, swim, take advil/alleve, soak in a hot tub, and see a doctor.

its likely a fibroadenoma(benign tumor) near the sciatic nerve and causing the nerve to be inflammed.

I had been on disability, I was injury at work and keep having pain in the lower back. I was referred to an orthopedic and I had about 4 MRI, they found out I had three herniated disc. I had physical therapy, one morning I could not get up since it affected the sciatic nerve, it was so painful that I want to shoot myself. The doctor put me on disability. Later on I had three epidoral injection, it help for a while. Sometime I have swelling and also and affect my leg.

If you have a pain in your lower back that shoots down to your leg, it could be a pinch nerve. You have to have some heating pad and take a motrin, but you could have also have a herniated disc that affect the sciatic nerve that was my experience. You should see and orthopedic. They would spot right the way, they take x-ray and MRI. The sooner the better since this problem seems to get worse. I hope you find a good one. God bless you and I hope is not as bad as mine.
