Neck Pain: Recently had clavical surgery and need some advice?

I had surgery to reconnect my clavicle bone around 6 months ago so I have been past it for quite a while. I seem to always have a tense feeling in my neck that really bothers me. It’s like a pain but not a sharp pain or anything, just constant. It’s almost as if it hurts to hold my head up, but not to lay down or anything like that. I was never put into any type of rehab routine to get my body back to normal, so are there any stretches I should do to help relieve some of the pain in my neck?

Does anyone have any advice to relieve the pain before I decide to go to the doctor?
Ok, that does not help me. Any advice from people with neck pain?
Thanks for the help, I’ll have to try this stuff out. It’s not like I can’t do stuff with the shoulder. I can lift weights, objects, catch, push ups, whatever. It’s just my neck area that hurts now. I think I am still hesitant to put everything back on that shoulder and I don’t even know it.

After 6 months the bones are healed, but may have developed a spur, or fragment touching surrounding tissue. But I think you have an imbalance in trapezius muscles.
When we have an injury we "gaurd" the injured area by letting the other side do the work. Inyour case I would suggest the following excersises. Remember if it hurts don’t do it.!!

With upper body straight and faceing forward slowly rotate your head to the right as far as you can, then hold for 10 seconds. repeat to the left, do each 6 tmes. Slowly tilt your head forward to try touch chin to chest. I suspect you will feel this one. Repeat 10 times. Starting with head facing forward tilt it to right with neck straight, as if you want to touch eqar to shoulder. repeat on other side, do 4 times each side. * make sure you hold for at least 6 seconds.

Hold your right arm across your body and under your chin, and with the left wrist on or near elbow pull towards left side of body and hold for 15 seconds. Repeat with 5 turns on each side. Finally lying down with ars out from shoulders and knees up, with feet flanted flat on floor, slowly twist lower body to right as if trying to touch knee to floor. Do 10 times each side, The reason these excercises are top to bottom so to speak is because your Trapazoid runs across the top of shoulders, and from scalp down to coxyx or tail bone. If you put your hand on side of your spine you’ll feel trap move on opposite side that your bearing weight on.

6 months is too long to still be having trouble. So be persistant about rehab.

Ive had neck surgery and I have some easy exercises for you. Tilt your head forward(not alot, just far enough so there’s no pain)
now tilt it back,(just a little,we don’t want any pain)
then tilt it slowly to the right(not too far, remember no pain)
then tilt it to the left(just a little,no pain)
then bring chin down towards chest, tilted alittle to the right(again no pain just as far as you can go)
then bring chin towards chest, tilted alittle to the left.
Hold each of these for about 10 seconds and DO SLOWLY.
I do these exercises everyday, 3 times a day. My neck hurts like hell all the time but this keeps it flexible to some degree.
You probably should have had therapy but good luck !
