"Slight scoliosis" is not normally associated with pain. Research demonstrates no correlation between the two conditions. You may need further follow up to rule out other causes.

You've tried both a DC and PT...did you only see one? Have you considered seeking a PT with a certification in mechanical diagnosis and therapy? You may need a second opinion(http://www.mckenziemdt.org) Have you been to an orthopedist?

Just some other considerations for you.

Clean your body out from the inside first. No artificial sweeteners, don't eat anything white, and no pop. Then do your physical therapist exercises 2 x a day or as directed by your physcian. This may be something that you need on-going physical therapy for.

Hi Luci

Great name by the way, same as my wife...

Although scoliosis doesn't necessarily cause your back pain, it may be a contributing factor or just a result of your lower back and spine in general being out of balance.

There are many things you can do your self to help, but as with all problems, if things don't ease quickly seek help. It is never wise to let back pain become chronic.

As to what you can do...

There are some simple stretches, strengthening techniques, joint techniques and more that can not only remove your back pain but will help improve your posture and may reduce your scoliosis. There are some free examples in the link below, so check it out, but email me if you need anything further.

I really don't know what "slight" means. Do you have your curve measurements?

Swimming (my favorite), yoga, and pilates are things that help strenghten your core muscles. Exercises by themselves won't correct scoliosis, but may make you feel better.

You also may be able to get a script for PT.

If you are having pain from scoliosis, I'd suggest getting a referral to a scoliosis specialist to evaluate your back.

Chiropractors, message therapists, acupuncturists, etc., also can't fix scoliosis. These people adjust the soft, connective tissues and that may (or may not, you can't tell ahead of time) make you feel better, but remember, scoliosis is not a connective tissue disease.
