The ache feels like the type of knot or ache you can get from muscle strain but I have not done anything to cause this as I have been VERY inactive lately. It hurts the most when I bed over to the left side. It sometimes aches when I breathe in or out deeply but not all the time.

It started on Sunday morning. I woke up with it and my friends and I had been eating a lot and drinking heavily the night before when on Vacation. I have been drinking a lot of water and not been eating too much due loss of appetite. It does seem to get a bit duller if I take 200 mg Ibuprofen and seems to improve a little bit in the evening.

I am overweight, have high blood pressure but not on meds. No diabetes. I do not exercise much but am eating a mostly healthy diet with the intent to lose weight. I was only off my diet for a week when on vacation.

I often have dull back pain on both sides in upper back and have for many years. Sometimes I have lower back pain after a lot of standing.

Thank you for that suggestion about the rib. I have never heard of this either and I was sleeping on the couch in an odd position Saturday into Sunday night. How long does it usually take to get better?
I also wanted to add…I have not had a bowel movement since Monday morning which is odd. I do have a slightly distended upper abdomen but no pain in abdomen…just some occasional heartburn.
Thanks for the answer about Pleuritis. I have had that before and this is not it this time. The ache seems a TINY bit duller since I woke up today but that could also mean because I have other muscle aches from carrying a few heavy things yesterday.
