what could be the cause of lower back pain?

I’m 17 years old 5’2" and around 100 lbs. (no i don’t starve myself or anything like that. i eat a lot and no i don’t puke it back up either.) Anyway, my lower back has been in rather intense pain lately. I don’t know if any of this stuff could be related so I’ll list all my symptoms: I have felt nauseous the past few mornings (about a week), I’ve been undergoing tests to find the cause of fainting spells, I had trouble breathing last night from around 3 – 6 a.m., something hurt like hell below my stomach but it wasn’t my ovaries or anything like that… I couldn’t stay standing it hurt so bad to be straight, and I think that’s about it. Any doctors out there who might be able to give a little advice??

    it is difficult to make a definitve diagnosis based on the limited info, but I would do a workup for possible urinary tract infection/kidney infection. You didn’t say where in your lower back the pain was, but if it is off to one (or both) sides of your spine, then I’d really suspect a kidney (and of course, bladder) infection. Nothing to mess around with, prolonged kidney infection can lead to renal scarring and decreased kidney function. Both can lead to further problems down the line. Get your family physician to do a UA w/sensitivity, if positive, treat, if negative, get a referral to OB, perhaps GI

    I am not a doctor. But I had several of the same symptoms days ago. I went to emergency room and they did a quick strep test. I also read up about it and if it is left untreated it can cause a urinary tract infection. Lower pack pain bad stomach pains.
    strep difficulty breathing and nauseous. dizzy. Go to the doctor.

    There’s many causes of your pain to consider. If it is the middle of your period-time, could be just plain ‘mittleschmerz’ and not to worry (tho’ very painfuil in pelvic area). How do you know it’s not an ovarian cyst? That can be very painful. Such a cysts can dry up and go away in 2-3 months or it can grow larger than a lemon (rare)… not dangerous, but painful. {Only an OB/GYN can diagnose it by physical exam.}

    Sleep with a high pillow behind head, neck and upepr back for one week; that may relieve your night problems. Ask your doc to send you to OB/GYN MD.
