How can I fix my neck and head pain?

For the last couple months, I have been waking up with neck pain. Throughout the day, I may (or may not) get occasional waves of head pain across my left and (sometimes) right temple and above my eyebrows. They aren’t headaches as I would define it, just waves of pain, that may last seconds or minutes and then go away. However, when I arch my neck all the way back, or turn all the way to my right or left, I have neck pain. Every morning I wake up I am uncomfortable. I have tried buying new pillows. I am a chronic side sleeper so I have no idea how that impacts my situation. Right now, I am sleeping on a tempur pedic mattress with a memory foam pillow. I really need some relief. Any ideas how I might fix this?

Bruno I started suffering from the same thing last year after they extracted my wisdom tooth and I still have them up to date

next week actually I will go see an acupuncturist and a chiropractor

it took me a few neurologists and more to figure out what I had

what I have and what you have am sure is a pinched nerve in the back of your neck, it’s called occipital neuralgia

it’s neuralgia basically and it can be cured with proper therapy, massages, acupuncture, chiropractor.. basically your spine is not aligned and it makes the muscles swell and trap the nerve that sends pain signals to the brain

what has helped me is putting hot water in my neck and sleeping with a pillow that makes my spine straight.

google neuralgia occipital, you’ll see that the symptoms match

my pain is also on the left side and sometimes it feels like electricity or a weird pressure sensation traveling around my head.

Hi Bruno. It might be wise to have a thorough evaluation by your family Chiropractor. He/she is an expert in diagnosing and treating these types of problems.

    Best wishes and good luck.

Sounds like neck and shoulder tension brought on by high stress. Try using a heating pad on your upper back/lower neck for an hour in the evening before you go to bed.
