Muscle pain and spasms.?

So I’ve been having this strange muscle pain for almost 6 months. I’ve never had it before and it just randomly started this spring. It began as just lower back spasms so I thought it was probably due to straining it while doing some activity. It went away for a little while and then came back with a vengence with horrible spasms radiating all along my pelvis, lower back, abdomen and hips. It would not stop. It kept me all up all night and nothing relieved it. It continued to get worse and the pain would change and move. Sometimes it’d be right at my pelvic bone on both sides, aching and hurting like someone was squeezing my pelvis and then it would ache and spasm in my lower back down to my hips. (Sometimes it spreads to my thighs and calves but it’s not aggravating like in my pelvis. I just notice it goes down there.)

It’s agony to walk.I feel stiff and it just hurts to move. Laying down is not so pleasant and I have to stay absolutely still or the slightest movement aggravates it yet sometimes staying in the same position makes it worse too. I saw this massage lady who thought it was my hips causing all the pain because I had hip alignment issues as a child that they supposively corrected through these odd therapies when my mom wanted surgery. I kept seeing the lady who told me my hips were continiously getting out of alignment and so she would reset them and my pain would get a little better. Then it got really bad again so I saw this chiropractor guy. He made the pain worse at first but then it was better again and I was actually virtually pain free for a few days. I was so happy because I had not been pain free in a few months. I also learned that alternating hot and cold in the area right above my rear did help ease the spasms and pain.

But now the pain is getting worse again and it is spreading up the sides of my abdomen and it goes to my ribs sometimes too. I want to trust my chiropractor knows what he is doing and the pain will eventually get better and fade but yet I keep questioning whether that is the answer and it’s not something else. I have no medical insurance so I’ve not seen a normal doctor about it because it seems joint/muscle related and I don’t think they could do anything. But the worse the pain is getting again the more I consider that it could be something else. I’m really tired of having this pain. I cannot exercise or sleep well at times and I really want it to go away.

Any suggestions? Has anyone experienced this before? Do you think I should see a normal doctor or keep up with my chiropractor therapy and hope it improves again? I cannot live like this. I am not working right now and I honestly do not think I can work until this improves because I can hardly move without being in pain and I need to use the ice pack and heat continiously throughout the day to cope with it. I do notice that stress does make it worse and I have tried stretches to loosen it up but they don’t seem to do much. Pain killers do not appear to make a great difference either. Please help with some suggestions this pain is ruling my life!

P.S. My chiropractor has not given me a real clear explanation for my pain. He says I have weakness in my calfs and that pain is spreading up to my pelvis and body but it’s not from an injury just a slow progression of bad habits and emotional stress that has weakened my legs. I don’t know if I believe in that stuff yet I’m getting desperate because I want to be pain free and enjoy life again. I do have anxiety and fear issues that cause stomach issues but I haven ever had this muscle pain before ever in my life.

I have fibromyalgia and you do not sound like that is your problem. I would say the childhood misalignment has something to do with the pain you are having now. I suggest you see a DO, they are miracle workers. I went to one after a car accident when I could not lift my head for 2 years (I had been going to a chiropractor). DO’s can give pain medication but they use manipulation same as chiropractors only they are better trained. Find a DO and go see him. I think you will see a big difference in a few weeks.
