HERNIATED DISC PAIN MED AND DEPRESSION MED?

I’m on pain medicine for herniated disc. I’ve been depressed for 2 or 3 month and I went to speak with Ph doctor. He prescriped me medicine called pristiq.

but I’ve heard about taking a pain med with anti depressant will make worse and hugh side effect. Which one do i need to stop? I’m afraid if i stop taking the pain med for herniated disc then i will live in pain. if i don’t take depression med then i will be depressed all the time( i know it isn’t work right away.) what should i do?
